Through four short work and dialogue books about Fear, Anger, Grief, and Joy, kids can now learn to become conscious of their basic emotions. The books help kids and their grown-ups to recognize and take constructive action on their emotions, and thus create joy for themselves and others. Many detours and conflicts are avoided later in life this way.
‘Word’ tells kids the truth grown-ups have forgotten
The main characters in the four books all meet ‘Word’ who tells them the truth about our basic emotions, which the adults do not always know. Word helps the kids to speak up, or in other ways, take action, according to their inner voice.
Fear helps Anton
For example, Anton is afraid of his first day at school. His mother tries to elude it with a remark; there is no reason to be afraid - it’s going to be fun to start in school.
Word tells Anton that Fear is a signal for him to pay attention to everything new he does not know the outcome of – and that Fear shows up to help! This way, Word helps Anton to recognize the real purpose of Fear - which the mother forgets in her well-meant efforts to make her son happy. Unfortunately, the effect of her attempt is the opposite: Anton feels wrong because he subconsciously is taught, that Fear is not allowed. But then Word appears.
